Guido Ceronetti

Turin, August 24, 1927 – Cetona, September 13, 2018. He was a multifaceted Italian writer: poet, journalist, translator, playwright, philosopher, and puppeteer. In 1970, together with Erica Tedeschi, he founded the Teatro dei sensibili, dedicated to the art of puppetry. A contributor to La Stampa, he cultivated a critical and aphoristic prose style, marked by erudition and disenchantment with modernity. He translated Latin classics, biblical texts, and modern authors. His books include ‘Il silenzio del corpo’ (1979), ‘Un viaggio in Italia’ (1983), and ‘Pensieri del tè’ (1987). In 1994, the Guido Ceronetti collection was created at the Cantonal Library of Lugano, which preserves manuscripts, graphic materials, and his personal archive.
