Roger Santiváñez

Piura (Peru), 1956. Poet. He studied at the University of Piura and Literature at San Marcos, Lima. He joined Hora Zero in 1976 and founded Kloaka in the 1980s, exploring the popular language of Lima. He published poetry collections such as 'Antes de la muerte' (1979), 'Symbol' (1991), and 'Labranda' (2008). Anthologies of his work include 'Dolores Morales de Santiváñez' (2006) and 'Sagrado' (2016). He taught at Saint Joseph's University and Princeton University. He won the IV Juegos Florales (1973) and the José María Eguren Prize (2005). He lives on the banks of the Cooper River, devoting himself entirely to contemplation, writing, and the study of the languages of poetry.
