Leonardo Valencia

Guayaquil (Ecuador, 1969). Writer. He resided in Lima, where he published his first book of short stories ‘La luna nómada’ (Jaime Campodónico Editor, 1995), included in several international reference anthologies, such as ‘Les bonnes nouvelles de l’Amérique latine’ (Gallimard), and later resided in Barcelona, where he obtained a PhD in Comparative Literature from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. His novels have been published in Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, the USA, France, and Switzerland, with translations into English and French: ‘El desterrado’ (2000), ‘El libro flotante’ (2006), ‘Kazbek’ (2008), and ‘La escalera de Bramante’ (2019), as well as the essays ‘El síndrome de Falcón’ (2008), ‘Viaje al círculo de fuego’ (2014), ‘Moneda al aire’ (2017), and ‘Ensayos en caída libre’ (2023). He currently directs the PhD in Literature and the Master’s in Literature and Creative Writing at the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, in Quito.
