Santa Clara (Cuba), 1971. Graduate of the National School of Art and the Higher Institute of Art in Havana. As a poet, critic, and playwright, he also stands out as one of the most prominent LGTBIQ+ activists in Cuba, where he promoted pioneering initiatives such as the ‘Homoerotic Art Day’ (1998-2000), the first of its kind in Cuba. His publications include ‘Las breves tribulaciones’ (poetry); ‘Ícaros y otras piezas míticas’ (theater); ‘Cuerpos de un deseo diferente’ (essays on queer culture in Cuba); and ‘Escenarios que arden’ (criticism and essays on contemporary Cuban theater). His plays have been performed on stages in Cuba, Puerto Rico, France, and the United States.
